As part of the Practical Workshop of Maritime Transport, the Port of Altamira received more tan 40 logistic executives representing several important companies from the State of Nuevo Leon, who had the opportunity to get to know all the different processes that involve their daily import and export operations. This workshop was organized by COMCE (Consejo Mexicano de Comercio Exterior) Noreste and COMCE Tamaulipas.
The visit started at the Port Administration offices, where Ms. Guadalupe Hernandez, from AMANAC (Asociacion Mexicana de Agentes Navieros, A.C.) informed the participants about the shipping agencies proper activities and their involvement in their logistic chain. Afterwards, they were transported to the Altamira’s Customs Facilities, where they were able to see the First and Second Recognition zones. Here, customs personnel gave an interesting explanation of all the procedures that take place since the containers arrive to the gamma ray system, until they are dispatched.
These activities were part of the agenda that COMCE Noreste presented for this workshop, an event that takes place each year in Tampico and Altamira, and that also included interesting conferences such as “Incoterms” and “Maritime Transport Characteristics”.
It is important to mention that COMCE Noreste is an association dedicated to promote international commerce activities and security in the logistics chain. Its hinterland is in Nuevo Leon, Coahuila, Tamaulipas and Durango, and from this association comes COMCE Tamaulipas, led by Mr. Felipe Pearl Zorrilla. The most important importing and exporting companies in the Country are members of this organization and their participation in these events keeps them informed.
This is the way the Port of Altamira works as a team with COMCE Noreste and other associations that promote the logistics chain, strengthening important projects for the economy of the State.
